Rush Deer
This is a good Christmas recipe but can be used as a quick make at any time of year and can also be made with cardboard or stiff paper.
Take five thick lengths of thick rush approx. 2 foot 6 inches or 75 cm long, damped and mellowed.

Firmly fold the rush at the turns so that you get nice neat angles to form the body, then the neck and then the head by which time you only have three rushes left.
I tie the longest round the other two and knot or thread away behind.
Trim antlers and legs and tail with scissors. Buttons or google eyes are an optional extra.

Handy hints: count the folds as you go - two for the bum, five for the tum, four for the back, three, four or five for the chest and neck.
